Which certifications are worth it in 2026, and which aren't

Certifications do two different jobs, and confusing them is what leads people to collect the wrong ones. The first job is getting past a filter. The second is actually learning something you will use.

Filter certifications are worth exactly as much as the employers in your market say they are. In West Africa and the UK, cloud associate-level credentials and core networking credentials still move CVs to the top of a pile. Vendor-specific credentials for products you have never touched do not.

Learning certifications are worth it when the syllabus forces you to build. Anything you can pass on memory alone teaches you very little, and hiring managers have worked this out.

The honest summary: two well-chosen credentials plus demonstrable work beats six credentials and nothing to show.
